Manual opening of the fuel filler flap in BMW – how to do it?
BMW driver question
The central locking system is not working in my car. Is it possible to manually open the fuel filler flap?
The problem affected a BMW 3 E46, but it may happen in other models as well.

Response from BM Cars service
The fuel filler flap can be opened manually using the cable (green in color) installed in the trunk on the right side.
In the touring version, you need to open the side compartment on the right side in the trunk and pull the green cord until the fuel filler flap is unlocked. In the sedan version, a green colored wheel is installed in the trunk on the right side, and pulling it unlocks the flap.
