Is it possible to make up the keys to a BMW?
BMW driver’s question
I lost the second key to my car. Is it possible to copy (make) an additional key?
The problem applies to all BMW models.
Answer from BM Cars service
It is possible, but you need to keep in mind some important facts.
The fact that the key is lost must be reported immediately to the insurance company. This is especially important in the case of vehicle theft. The absence of a set of keys usually prevents the payment of compensation.
Then go to an authorized BMW service center to order a duplicate key. Keys are manufactured and prepared only by BMW headquarters in Germany. Based on the body numbers, once the order is placed (in person by the vehicle owner), the key will be produced and sent to the service center from where it can be picked up.
For your safety , we strongly recommend that you have a set of locks replaced. The replacement will take no more than 1 business day at our service center, and when it is completed, you will receive a completely new set consisting of 2 digital keys and 1 wallet key. Such a procedure will ensure that the new owner of the lost key will not be able to open and start your vehicle at any time.
You are welcome to use the services of BM Cars.
