Vibration and RPM waviness in BMW – how to fix it?

BMW driver question

I feel a vibration in the cabin at idle and sometimes the revs ripple gently. This lasts literally three seconds and then the revs return to normal. The tremor, however, remains. While driving, there are no problems.

I would like to add that due to these vibrations I have already replaced the sealers on the Vanos shafts. However, the problem of vibration at slow speeds remained. I checked the engine cushions and they are said to be in good working order. Please help me to solve the annoying problem.

The problem affected a 2007 BMW 5 E60 with a 2.5L gasoline engine, but it can happen in other models as well.

BM Cars service response

The described problem of vibration and occasional engine ripple is very complex and can be caused by very different types of faults.

In addition to engine suspension components, such as engine and transmission cushions, it is necessary to check all rotating components. These include the pulley, the dual mass wheel – if present in your model.

It is also necessary to fully diagnose the engine with the injection system.

For the diagnosis, it is necessary to make an appointment and fully inspect the vehicle.
