Severe body vibration after replacement of the timing gear and dual mass wheel in BMW
BMW driver question
I have a problem with my BMW. After replacing the timing gear and dual mass wheel, the shifter vibration has appeared and there is a noticeable vibration throughout the car.
My current mechanic said to balance the shaft as everything looks OK. After balancing the shaft, the same thing continued. It is impossible to drive the car on the highway, because the vibration at speeds above 80 km/h is very noticeable.
The problem affected the BMW F30 320d, but it happens in other BMW F Series.
Response from BM Cars service
If the described vibration occurs only when driving at speeds above 80 km/h, then it is related to chassis components:
- wheels,
- hubs,
- half-shafts.
In this regard, you should look for a solution. Most often there is a “consideration” of the wheels and vibrations appear, at certain speeds. They may disappear or decrease depending on the defect in question. This is related to the phenomenon of falling into resonance of body components under the influence of vibration of wheels or their components.
Making an accurate diagnosis requires performing vehicle and chassis diagnostics.
