Trembling gearshift lever in BMW 3
BMW driver question
In my BMW at idle the shift lever shakes a lot, can this be eliminated?
The problem occurred in the BMW 3 E46, but it can also happen in other models.
Response from BM Cars service
A common malfunction in BMW cars that are several years old, especially in E46 models, is a shuddering shift lever, especially strongly noticeable at idle. The problem is usually solved by replacing the Teflon bushing at the shift lever and, in addition, the bushings at the attachment of the lever to the lever.
The operation is not very complicated and does not require disassembly of the gearbox. In addition, check the quality of the cushions under the engine (especially in cars with diesel engines) and the transmission cushions.
