Noise from around the clutch and gearbox – what is the reason and how to fix it?

When depressing and releasing the clutch pedal, I hear a metallic noise from around the gearbox. What could this mean?

The described problem may signal:
- damage to the clutch thrust bearing,
- excessive play in the flywheel – dual mass, if it is heard around the clutch.
If the sound is clearly coming from the vicinity of the gearbox, it can indicate emerging play in the gearbox shafts. Precise determination of the source of the sounds is possible during a full diagnosis at the service center.
