Controller issue after replacing seats in BMW – how to solve it?
BMW driver question
I purchased seats from a BMW X5 E70 comfort version that I want to transplant to another car. I’m looking for a specialist to get my seat module working so that the adjustment buttons work (memory and heating probably can’t be done). Are you able to do this? To the best of your knowledge, does starting the controller require constant communication with the car, or can it be circumvented?
The question applies to all component transplant operations between BMW cars.
Response from BM Cars service
Purchased seats will not fully function without replacing the driver that supports them and changing the installation (different harnesses and plugs). The changed controller must be coded to the vehicle. With a new controller, it is necessary to program the entire vehicle with the risk of damaging the other controllers. For the controller to work, it must have constant communication and power from the vehicle.
All in all, the operation is not simple and requires significant intervention in the vehicle.
