Diversity in BMW does not work at distances greater than a meter – how to fix it?

BMW driver question

I have a problem with the central lock or keys. The car does not open from the remote when I stand further than a meter from the Diversity (central locking module). Until a week ago I could open it easily from ten meters away. The wiring harness OK. What could be the cause?

The problem affected the BMW 5 E61, but it can occur in all models with Diversity.

BM Cars service response

The key fob range problem is usually related to a weak battery in the key or its damage or damage to the Diversity module. The location of its mounting on the E61 (under the spoiler on the tailgate) is a common reason for the module being flooded or moisture getting into it.

For an accurate diagnosis, it is necessary to check the Diversity module and its power supply, as well as to check the transmitter in the key and the status of the power supply battery.

We invite you to take advantage of our service.
