Body vibration and disturbing sounds at 100 km/h in a BMW – how to fix it?

I have this phenomenon in my BMW that at speeds around 100 km/h there are disturbing noises like “bow, bow”. In addition, when accelerating between 1500-2200 rpm, there are body vibrations. What is the reason for such problems? How to solve it?

The problem affected the BMW 520d F11 xDrive, but it can also happen in other models.

The described problem is very complex. Noise from the wheels while driving occurring at a certain speed is usually caused by:

1. Worn wheel hub bearings.
2. “Serrated” and poorly stored tires.
3. Front or rear bridge gears.
4. VTG box.

In addition, there is a problem with vibrations occurring during acceleration in the 1500-2000 rpm range. The source of such vibrations can be:

1. A worn hydrokinetic clutch.
2. Excessive play on the automatic transmission’s roller pan.
3. Fuel injectors.
4. EGR exhaust gas recirculation system.
5. DPF filtering system.
6. Worn/considered pulley – vibration damper.
7. Curved or considered engine flywheel.
8. Damaged or cracked engine crankshaft.

Any of the factors listed above can be the source of the problems described. Making an accurate diagnosis requires a visit to the service center and a full diagnostic and inspection of the car.

1. Inspection of the transmission system for play and wear in the bearings of the front and rear wheel hubs.
2. Inspection of the front and rear bridge.
3. Verification of the VTG box for errors and leaks.
4. Checking the condition of the vehicle’s tires.
5. Examination of the condition of the pulley/vibration damper.
6. Full engine diagnostics with special attention to injectors, EGR and DPF system.
7. Full diagnostics of the automatic transmission, checking the condition and quality of the oil inside the transmission.
