BMW driver question

Since I can't find a clear answer on the Internet, I have a question for you. What is the original allowable paint thickness on BMW?

The problem was on the BMW 1 E87, but it occurs on all models.

BM Cars service response

BMW HQ does not specify the thickness of the paint film in its documentation. We know from practice that the thickness of factory-new parts is usually below 100 μm. On average, from 50 to 80 μm.

There are single parts where this thickness reaches up to 120 μm, but it is still a factory coating. At thicknesses of 150-200 μm, we have to deal with paint corrections. Above 200 μm, repair with putty primer comes into play.

We've written more about BMW body and paint repairs here.
