Ignition and battery problems in BMW – how to fix it?
BMW driver question
I have a problem with igniting the car. Within a week replaced the alternator and battery with the same parameters as the one used before. The next day the car fired up on the second attempt. During the day it fired up without any major problems.
The problem arose the next day, when, when trying to ignite, the car did not respond. It was only after several more attempts that it managed to fire up. The temperature is currently hovering around 0 degrees, could this affect the ignition? The battery replacement was not registered in the diagnostic system. Could this have affected the current problems?
The problem affected the BMW E91 318, but it happens in other models as well.

BM Cars service response
We have too little vehicle data to be able to make an accurate diagnosis. However, from your description, it appears that the problem was a weak battery and charging issues. After replacing the battery, it should be adopted in the vehicle’s diagnostic system. Then we are guaranteed proper charging.
The outside temperature is, of course, of great importance when starting the vehicle. At low temperatures (below 0 degrees), the efficiency of the battery decreases sharply, the resistance to start the engine increases. In addition, in the case of diesel engines, it is necessary to use a glow plug system and fuel filter heating. Both systems put a significant strain on the battery.
For an accurate diagnosis, it is necessary to carry out a full diagnostics of the vehicle.
