I have a problem with a BMW with a DPF cut out engine smelling. Unfortunately, this is the model I bought and for some time now it smokes terribly when firing up. However, only on a cold engine. My mechanic says it’s the fuel injectors, but I need to be sure because it’s quite a big expense. What could be the reasons for the car to smoke like this? Please advise.
The problem was on the BMW 5 F07 GT, but it may also occur on other models.

I have a problem that is recurring. During the DPF firing procedure, there is a loud engine noise, it is a “knock combustion” sound, so stated the mechanic to whom I presented it. The sound intensifies in the rev range of about 2000-2500.This occurs during load, when adding gas. On the other hand, it does not occur at a standstill. Engine temperature or ambient temperature does not matter.

The problem is that when I get to an intersection and almost come to a stop, the car jerks when shifting to slow speed. I have never had such symptoms. In addition, during hard acceleration I have the impression that it also jerks. When I connected the diagnostic computer, it popped up the error “250900 fuel pressure sensor”. I replaced the short circuit to the pole and the sensor with a new one, butthe problem still occurs.

My car is equipped with standard heated seats, without memory. However, I would like to replace them with something more comfortable and new. I have seen on the internet that the replacement itself is not a problem, but I have my doubts. I don’t like the look of the F30/F34 seats. If I take the G20/G21 series seats, will the heating and memory function work?

On a cold engine the ignition drops out on the first, second, third and fourth cylinders. When the car is warmed up, it works properly. My suspicion of the cause of the problem falls on the eccentric shaft from Valvetronica. I know that they like to jam. How can this hypothesis be confirmed? Could other components be the cause of the ignition loss?

Please advise. I bought a BMW 5 from a friend in Poland – the car originally from England. I took it to my local garage for repair. The car is not running. It turned out that the inverter was flooded with water, so we put on a used one. We also installed another battery after reconditioning. Now the car runs, but does not charge the battery. Please advise something, because the guys in the workshop have already lost their hair. Does the used inverter need to be programmed? Is there an option to code a used one?

My car uses a lot of oil – about one liter per 500 km. What’s more, it doesn’t smoke, accelerates well, but sometimes the revs ripple. I feel that the engine chokes at a higher dose of gas. However, I have not noticed any leaks. The car was bought 3 weeks ago. I’ll also add that the “check engine” light is on, but I was assured that it is an error related to the lambda probe.

I would like to ask BM Cars as professionals. Is it true that the 116 hp version of the BMW F31 can be electronically upgraded to 150 hp? I have a two-liter engine, but only 116 hp and would like to have more power. If so, how much does it cost?
The question was about the BMW 3 F31, but it also applies to other models.
