Audio system the reason of battery discharge in BMW – how to fix it?

BMW driver’s question

When the car is turned off and the whole audio (DVD, changer, radio) is closed/open, it cycles on every 1 min or so. The DVD player in the trunk turns on and you can hear it working, its LEDs also indicate this. After a while it turns off (current consumption drops to 0.5 A) and starts up again. Current consumption is then at about 3-2.5 A, and so on and so forth.

Turning on the DVD is accompanied by a single tick from the changer mechanism and from the radio level. This drains my battery. The car has been well cared for and nothing has ever happened. Please support.

The problem was with a 2004 BMW X3 E83 with a 150 KW N57 engine, but may also occur in other models.

Response from BM Cars service

The described battery discharge problem is caused by the vehicle waking up from the sleep position at a standstill. The awakening and the associated high current draw could be caused by a failure of any component in the controller that, via the CAN network or bridge, awakens the entire vehicle.

In this case, the radio and audio system module (DVD, changer) would need to be checked. Possible failure of any of these components can cause the effect described by.

For an accurate diagnosis, a full diagnostics of the vehicle is necessary.
