What security systems for BMWs are installed at BM Cars?

Alarm – this option is for vehicles not equipped with a factory alarm. Most vehicles from the German market do not have an alarm. The factory alarm works with the car’s key. Its arming occurs 20 seconds after closing the car with the remote control. Protection covers the vehicle’s interior, hood, trunk and tilt control. Activation is signaled by lights and a self-powered alarm siren. At the same time, a signal is sent to the factory immobilizer to prevent the engine from starting.

Additional immobilizer – starting the engine is possible only after activation of the system, that is, after pressing a button or having the appropriate switch (key fob or card) in the vehicle cabin. Leaving the vehicle with the key fob does not turn off the engine. On the other hand, once the engine is extinguished, it is not possible to restart it without the switch.

Satellite monitoring – according to statistics, this is the most effective form of vehicle protection. This type of protection usually works in conjunction with the factory alarm (although this is not a requirement). Monitoring is carried out by specialized security companies. Any unauthorized attempt to start the vehicle is immediately checked by the monitoring company and, if not confirmed by the vehicle owner, an alarm procedure is initiated. Additional options include viewing the current location of the vehicle. Satellite monitoring is associated with a fixed monthly fee, and installing it in a vehicle gives sizable discounts with insurance companies.

How long does it take to install/repair security systems in a BMW?

It takes the least amount of time to install an additional immobilizer. Depending on where it is hidden and the vehicle’s equipment, the time required for installation can be between 4 and 5 hours.

Mounting an additional alarm – which works just like BMW’s factory alarm – takes a full day’s work, or about 8 hours.

Installing satellite monitoring just like installing an alarm takes about 8 hours.

Does BM Cars offer a warranty on security systems and what does it cover?

All security systems installed at BM Cars are covered by a 24-month warranty. It covers the smooth operation of the installed systems and is sometimes linked to mandatory service of the device in the case of additional immobilizers. This service includes periodic replacement of the batteries that power the immobilizer key fob (every 6 months).
