Throttling of the engine during acceleration in BMW – what is the reason and how to fix it?
BMW driver question
I have a small problem with my BMW. Recently I have noticed “throttling” when accelerating, unfortunately I do not know what this could be caused by. I would very much appreciate your help. Thank you in advance and best regards.
The problem concerned the BMW E61 530d, but it happens in other models as well.
Response from BM Cars service
The described problem in the 530d model can be caused by very many different types of damage. Most often, the main reason is the lack of control of the turbocharger, or the wrong range. In the case of the E61 model, turbochargers with electric control were used, where the controller is not available as a spare part. It is then necessary to replace or repair – turbocharger reconditioning. Similar symptoms can be caused by other minor defects, such as leaks in the supercharger hoses or inefficiency of the flow meter.
Making an accurate diagnosis requires a complete engine diagnostics.
