Since the fall of 2020, nanofilters that catch microbes and allergens are also being used. In the first instance, they are installed in Rolls-Royce car models. Starting in 2021, the new generation of filters is being introduced in BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series models, as well as X5, X6 and X7.
What is the replacement of cabin filters in BMW cars?
Microfilters, which have been used by the BMW concern since the early 1990s, are subject to periodic replacement. In older models manufactured until 2005, their replacement was carried out during subsequent oil service or inspection. In newer models with an extensive AI information system, the service call for microfilter replacement is indicated by a separate icon.
When replacing the cabin filter, the covers are removed, the filter or filter set for the left and right air circuits is replaced, and the filter tray is cleaned.
Every what period of time should air filters be replaced in a BMW?
Periodic replacement of microfilters should be carried out most rarely according to the service calls of the SI system. In the Polish market, due to road pollution , we recommend replacing microfilters at least once a year or every 15,000 km.
What is the difference between air conditioning service and cabin air filter service in BMW?
The air conditioning service includes, in its scope, checking the air conditioning system, measuring the amount of coolant and replacing it, along with changing the oil in the air conditioning compressor and sanitizing the air conditioning system. Cabin filter service, on the other hand, includes periodic replacement of filters along with resetting of service calls. Microfilter replacement should be combined with air system decontamination.
What kind of air filters can be installed in BMW cars? What do they protect against?
BMW cars use microfilters from various manufacturers. The main division includes ordinary filters and filters with activated carbon. For each model of BMW car there is a dedicated type and type of filters.
Ordinary cabin filters catch particulate matter, pollen, soot and dust.

In addition to manually switching to closed-loop mode, BMW cars can be equipped with an automatic detector. For example, if you are following a vehicle that is spewing black smoke from its tailpipe, BMW will automatically turn on the closed-circuit mode of the cabin air purification system to run the air through a filter repeatedly in a short period of time.
